Over the past ten years, the Cosmos team has worked to perfect design, development, marketing, and sales processes to deliver quality educational products into the school market. Together, the management team has over 175 years of experience.

Marguerite Hillman, CEO 
Marguerite Hillman has over 30 years of experience in education and training. Most recently, she founded Hillman, Inc., a high-tech education and training services company. Her clients included Knowledge Adventure, Classwell, Channel One, UBWebbin, and PushyBroad.com. 

Hillman was a founder and vice president of Lightspan, Inc., a publicly traded company that develops educational products for the K–8 market. The company founders raised over $120 million to build large-scale educational products for national schools systems. Hillman built and managed the team that created over 100 interactive products for the PlayStation® game console as well as for the Mac® and Windows® platforms. Before founding Lightspan, Hillman was a director at Jostens Learning, one of the premiere integrated learning systems (ILS) companies. Prior to Jostens Learning, Hillman was a manager with Andersen Consulting. Hillman holds an MA and a BA from San Diego State University. 

Sandra Klausen, Chief Operating Officer
Sandra Klausen has over 30 years of experience in high-level management and administration. She founded HR Connections to offer solutions and services to high-tech clients. Prior to HR Connections, she was a director at Lightspan, Inc., and OMM, Inc., where she strategically directed a strong recruiting buildup of a unique team of senior executives, educators, sales professionals, engineers, programmers, and creative artists.

Klausen has directed fast buildups, severe downturns, and organizational development and restructuring. She serves as adjunct faculty/instructor at the University of Phoenix. She has an MA in Organizational Management and a BA in Management from the University of Phoenix. She received SPHR certification from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is a certified NLP practitioner.

Ha Phan, Production and Distribution
Ha Phan was a founder of UBWebbin, a high-tech consulting services company. Prior to UBWebbin, Phan was a producer at Lightspan, Inc., for its subscription-based Web site, a project that began in 1996 and quickly became a revenue-building source. Before coming to Lightspan, Phan was a graphics designer and animator for Jostens Learning and Andersen Consulting. Phan began her career at the La Jolla Children's Museum. Phan has a BA in Fine Arts from San Diego State University.

Gary Holley, Interactive Technology
Gary Holley was founder of Gene Pool Hall, a design and graphical interface company that created graphics, animation, and programming for retail applications. Prior to Gene Pool Hall, Holley was art director for Imagix Studios and programmer for Hughes Aircraft. Holley is an adjunct instructor at San Diego City College. He has a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of San Diego.

Heidi Janzen, Product Marketing
Heidi Janzen has worked in education and training for over 12 years. Her consulting clients include Future Kids, McGraw-Hill, and Classwell/Knowledge Adventure. She was vice president at Lightspan, Inc., responsible for directing and marketing Lightspan's interactive online products. Prior to Lightspan, Janzen was in the public and private educational sector. Janzen has a BA in Political Science and an MA in Education from San Diego State University.

Dr. Joanne Odenthal, Sales Support 
Dr. Odenthal has worked with educational publishers for 17 years, before which she was a teacher and librarian. While at Lightspan, Inc., Dr. Odenthal was vice president of studio productions and prior to that she was content director of mathematics. Before coming to Lightspan, she was a director at Jostens Learning in the areas of Spanish language arts, English language arts, and English as a Second Language (ESL). She holds an MLS from UCLA and a PhD with an emphasis in bilingual education and reading and language arts from the Claremont Graduate University, SDSU joint doctorate program.

Dr. James Marshall, School Business Development
Dr. James Marshall is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Educational Technology at San Diego State University. His expertise is in the area of technology-based education products and the use of technology by teachers and students in K–12 classrooms. He is also a lead evaluator with the U.S. Department of Education’s PT3 grant project. Dr. Marshall previously held the position of director of research and evaluation with the curriculum software company, Lightspan, Inc., where he designed and managed a research program to determine the program’s impact in schools and student homes across the country. Research efforts and results enabled Lightspan’s designation as a Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Model. Before joining Lightspan, Dr. Marshall was a senior consultant with Andersen Consulting, where he developed technology-based training solutions. He holds an MA in Educational Technology from SDSU and a PhD in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

Corey Buuhoan, Senior Financial Advisor
Corey Buuhoan has eight years of experience in the financing/investment arena. He is founder of CB Consulting and advisor for the UCSD Connect Program. Prior to this, he was associate director for Direct Investments at the American International Group Investment Corporation in Hong Kong and Corporate Bank Officer at Chemical Bank Corporation in New York. He holds an MBA from Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and a BA in Economics and Computer Science from Duke University.

Dr. Kevin Clark, Senior Education Advisor
Dr. Kevin Clark received his Ph.D. in 1994 in Instructional Systems from Penn State University. Currently at George Mason University, he advises and teaches courses in instructional design and development as well as the integration of technology in schools tracks of George Mason’s Instructional Technology Program. Dr. Clark also teaches in the Immersion Masters program. Dr. Clark’s corporate experience includes Lightspan, Inc., a San Diego, California–based software company that designs and develops educational multimedia products for the Web, PlayStation® game console, and computers. Dr. Clark’s most recent research activities have focused on community technology centers and the use of self-directed learning communities to bridge the Digital Divide.

Kristen Enyedi-Lewis, Senior Content Designer
Kristen received her BA from California University of San Marcos and her teaching credential from San Diego State University, where she is pursuing a Masters Degree in education and curriculum. She has over seven years of experience creating content and curriculum in the classroom. Kristen has worked and taught in local reading clinics, court, public and charter schools. She has taught students from preschool to high school. Her main goal is to help every student she meets become literate. Kristen began working as a content writer and designer five years ago. She has consulted for Lightspan, Kiko, and Harcourt. Here at Cosmos, Kristen writes content, designs curriculum, and runs the pilot studies.
